Alright first time mom here. I didn't completely understand the different stages of the nipples. We added some rice to the bottle and it would not come out fast enough for our baby. We tried the Y-Cut but this was horrible. The stage 3 works perfectly for getting the formula/rice mix out at the same rate as the Stage 2 did for formula.

Great nipples for 6 month old. It took a few attempts to get him use to the transition for the stage 2 nipple, but once he got the hang of it, he was sucking down the milk in no time.

These nipples are marketed as for 6month + babies but I'd read that these nipples were a bit too fast for infants at the younger end of that range. So I kept using stage 2 until my baby was almost 8 months. I just introduced them and he'll be 8 months next week. He loved them -- took to them with no problems whatsoever. We've been using the Born Free bottles and nipples since he was about a month old, and it's been great. No leaks, EVER which is a huge improvement over the Avent bottles.
I highly recommend the whole system. I can't say from experience whether the level 3 would be too fast for a 6 month baby, but my 8 month old loves them, and thus I do too.

My son is turning 1 in two weeks and he still hasn't accepted the level 3 nipples yet. The level 2's take too long to feed but the level 3 has super fast flow. basically, when you turn the bottle upside down, milk flows out like an open faucet. my son would suck once then spit the milk and nipple back out. i tried fighting with him to force him a little bit.. hoping that he would get used to it soon. every time the fight just gets worse... when he pushes the bottle away and squeezes the nipple, milk just gets splashed everywhere... half the milk gets lost and half remains in the bottle.. he ends up not having any...
i started trying the switch when he was six months, every time it didn't work, i wait a few weeks. now he's almost turning 1. can there be a less drastic change on the flow between levels 2 and 3?
i'm tempted to switch him to a sippy cup instead of the level 3s... very frustrating.
