Description:

The thinking's not fuzzy in these board books, but the animals certainly are. Sandra Boynton's familiar furry creatures introduce simple concepts in this bright collection of four books, replete with clever line drawings. In Horns and Toes and In Between, three horned monsters teach the parts of the body in rhyme: "...and we have a fuzzy TUMMY that we all like to pat / and a little BELLY BUTTON in the middle of that." The Going to Bed Book gets a Noah's Ark of animals organized for bed: "They hang their towels on the wall / and find pajamas, big and small." Opposites is just that: cute animals "high and low / fast and slow / heavy and light / day and night." In the rhyming reader But Not the Hippopotamus, a hippo finds himself on the outs as "a cat and two rats are trying on hats. / But not the hippopotamus. / A moose and a goose together have juice. / But not the hippopotamus." Rest assured the hippo finds love at the end. (Baby to preschool) --Claire Dederer

These books are very entertaining to my 1.5-2 year old, then she kind of got tired of them because we read them so much. Now that I have an active 8 month old as well, they hold up very well to chewing, throwing, getting climbed on, etc. There is always at least one illustration that makes me absolutely crack up in every book.

Mostly bought the books to replace the one the older boy ruined when he was younger. They are great books and about the only ones the younger one will sit through...wich isnt saying much since they are very short.

I've never done a review before, but as I looking for more books for my 17 month old daughter, I kept coming across Sandra Boynton. I realized I (and my daughter) love these books. Almost every night, we use 'The Going to Bed Book', however sometimes she likes to read it during the day. She loves to point at the 'moon'. She loves the 'Opposites' book so much that several months ago, she started calling it by name. The pictures are fun and have bright colors. The rhyming makes it easy to read and I guess fun to hear. This collection of books is a good start and some of the best books by Sandra Boynton. The only reason I knew about her is because my mom had given me the book 'Moo Baa La La La', one of my daughter's favorites.

We love these books and will read them long after my kids have "outgrown" them. Board books that will withstand toddlers are always a great choice.

We got a lot of books as gifts when our daughter (now 17 months old) was born, and the ones that have given her the most pleasure and use are the Boynton books, particularly the four in this collection (also you should get pajama time, barnyard dance, and hippos go bezerk).

Our daughter has loved these books from the time she was 2 months old and we're still reading them to her. I've got them all memorized at this point so I'm thinking of getting some more, just to mix it up (We've got 12 now.)

I can't reccomend these highly enough. Thanks Sandra Boynton.
